We are looking forward to neon jeans and accessories, hot pink and black combos, Orange bags, chunky wooden heels, cat eye glasses, Hermes restocking the Eveyln Bag, silver link bracelets, any Celine bag that you can get your hands on, espadrilles, colored jean shorts, teal eye liner, orange nail polish, IPAD accessories, REAL Missoni, bright colored Bottega Veneta bags, stripes, belts, Isabel Marant and Alexander Wang...just to name a few. Birkin's In The Sand!

A few years ago I wrote about Birkin bags in droves during Thanksgiving at a chi chi New York City hotel. Now, I am turning the spotlight to The Birkin bag on the beach! I do own this coveted bag and it does have a prime spot in my closet sitting under it's very own raincoat.
I admit that I love collecting all those orange boxes which you can only get if you purchase something. Here's my question...would you wear a blazer and jeans to the beach? Here's my next question...would you use a Birkin Bag on the beach? We're vacationing at one of our favorite spots in Palm Beach and have noticed Birkin bags sitting in the sand. My husband asked me...do they make Birkin beach bags? I can't imagine plopping my legendary Birkin in the sand. There are many occasions to use such an iconic bag but I never thought of the beach! Is there now a "best dressed beach list"? I'm one who can appreciate my Birkin bag and my Verdura cuff but I'm not about to wear these pieces on the beach! Who wants the hassle of protecting coveted pieces from the sand, the waves and suntan lotion. Although I've been told..."it's just a bag". Whatever the reason...it's up to you!

The Perfect Candle at Bottega Veneta!

Yesterday, as I was walking on Worth Ave in Palm Beach, Florida I was thinking about the perfect gift for the fashionista who has everything. I was searching for something really different...not your typical Worth Ave gift. Countless stores with endless ideas. I walked up and down the blockglance ding in store windows. Then something caught my eye in Bottega Veneta's window and I spotted the 'it' gift! The perfect gift was sitting in the most amazing window...fabulous candles that replicated Bottega handbags. I was so excited. I ran in as if they were flying off the shelves. Panting for breath I heard my voice asking, "I'll take one of each". The sales girl looked at me and laughed. She said said "We don't sell them but everybody been asking us." You'd think they'd find a way to sell them. They're great and something any fashionista would appreciate. It's All In A Name or Is it?

The best labels in fashion are the unforgettables ones like Michael Kors, Chanel, Jimmy Choo, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang and more. Lately, I've been seeing labels with inspiring names that I love..."What Goes Around Comes Around" "Too Faced" "Girls We Hated In High School" "NightCap" "Rebel Yell" "WildFox" "Jetset" "Daughters of the Revolution" "Brokedown" and "Nudie Jeans"...just to name a few. How many girls would you love to send a package to from "Too Faced" cause they are or from "What Goes Around Comes Around" cause you'll be right there watching when it does!

I think these names are every bit as catchy and memorable as the more known labels. The clothing definitely more trendy and cool. These labels obviously have tons of meaning especially if you're carrying a bag with the tag "Girls We Hated In High School". The best name we came across is "My Evil Twin." Add Some Edge To Your Outfit With Alexander McQueen's Skull Scarf!

An Update On The Fashion PR Firm That Was Emailing Well Beyond Working Hours!

Just a quick update on the fashion PR firm that was emailing me late at night and became increasingly annoyed when I asked her not to email me at ten thirty PM. The head of the firm emailed again the next day. I opened her email thinking she was going to apologize for her rude comments. Wrong! She emailed me to let me know I was "out of her data base" and never apologized for her nasty comments about me "sleeping with my computer" or for annoying me late at night. Mind you, I don't even know her!

The interesting thing is.. that so many of my fashion blogging friends "knew" exactly who I was talking about. Many said she was emailing them relentlessly late at night, as well. I think as fashion bloggers we need to let any firm that does not respect our wishes, know this is not acceptable. Mostly all of the fashion PR firms that I have dealt with have been amazing, helpful and respectful. It is rare that you find one who is so obnoxious that they insult you (Are you serious about late night emails? Do you sleep with your computer?) for making a reasonable request. I had so many personal emails about this firm "bugging" bloggers late at night.

I feel liberated that I'm no longer receiving her late night emails about the Kardashian's or anybody else. My blackberry is no longer buzzing all hours of the night! I'm so relieved that I spoke up (which I seldom do) and was so excited when I went to my gmail and I was officially off her list. Yay!!!

A Fashion PR Firm's Relentless Quest To Email Me Late At Night!

Hard to believe but I had a PR firm emailing me last night at ten thirty PM and when I asked them (so nicely) to please stop they emailed me again! I wrote them back and asked them to stop emailing me late at night (this has gone on so many nights) and the head of this PR firm wrote me back asking..."Are you serious about emails late at night?  Do you sleep with your computer"? I said it's of no concern to you what I do with my blackberry, I just don't want your emails late at night and now I don't want them at all! (many of them about Kim Kardashian...who cares?) She then sent me another nonsensical PR email at 12 midnight.

 I told her she was beginning to STALK me and was now harassing me. Finally they subsided and I safely ( I hope) unsubscribed myself from her list.

The point is as fashion bloggers we deal with many amazing PR firms, many of them unsolicited but so welcomed. They provide us with some very useful information, fashion updates and celeb sitings.I think when you ask a PR firm not to email you late at night they should respect your wishes and privacy. Everyone even fashion bloggers are entitled to have their peace and quite at night. I am not going to publish her name ( I really want, too) but if she continues to send me emails.......

Our Interview on Fashion Zest!

A Few Goody Gumdrops. We got to learn more about her, her blog and her view of fashion.

Jenny: Let’s start by hearing a little about yourself… who is Betsy?
Betsy: Betsy is a fashion blogger and editor of A Few Goody Gumdrops! I am an older fashion blogger and my taste is pretty seasoned although as I get older I lean more towards edgy and cool! I love fashion but my main focus is truly my family! I also love humor and try to add that aspect into my posts!

Jenny: What led you to write about / be involved in the fashion industry?
Betsy: In my other life I was a Speech and Language Pathologist. I have always loved fashion! When I was in college…decades ago, each grandmother sent me money for Valentine’s Day for a good meal, I borrowed a car and drove to Louis Vuitton and bought my first LV bag.
(the bags were a lot less then!) That was the start!

Lanvin's Modrian Inspired Clutch or Mini Canvas?

When I first saw Lanvin's latest Satin Patch Flap Front Clutch it cried out the famous artist, Piet Modrian.While I appreciate Mondrian's iconic paintings and would love to own one, I'm not loving Lanvin's Modrian inspired clutch. Yes, I've heard the saying..."Art Imitates Life" but not so sure it works on Lanvin's latest. I guess if I were attending a Piet Modrian exhibit at the Met it would be really en vogue to show up with this pricey clutch in hand. Lanvin has so many original designs, one would argue...why does the designer need to use Modrian's design (unless he has no idea that he did). Maybe this is Lanvin's idea of color blocking? The more I'm staring at this bag, I'm beginning to think it's OK but its not in my must-have obsession column. If you're enthralled then click the green link to indulge.

I personally like the painting more than the clutch although I have much more chance of affording the clutch.

Christian Louboutin Must-Have Platforms!

The shiny black patent leather pump has become the go-to staple in every fashionistas wardrobe. Christian Louboutin's Bianca in black patent leather is one of our favorite pumps with it's edgy styling, funky platform, high heel and iconic red sole.The pump is pricey but it's less than many of Louboutin's shoes! They're perfect for day or evening. Pair with a flouncy cocktail dress, sexy LBD or skinny jeans.We don't love pairing heels with jeans but many of our favorite fashionistas and celebs do! We'd wear these pumps all year long with very sheer stockings, preferably leopard. We love a bare leg so on some chilly nights we'd wear leg warmers til we get where we're going. Part of me added these WOW boots on AFGG because they look great with my blog! The other part loves bright colors! We all know 'tis the season' to buy bright especially for resort and Spring. Would I wear these? They're so cool and trendy. Obviously, I'd glam up a simple black LBD or an outfit with Alexander McQueen's Suede ankle boots in petunia-pink! They'd also look amazing with a short fitted dress. I'm sure my daughter would grab them from my closet. Its always fun to have ONE bright pair of booties or heels in your wardrobe. It’s not often that a designer can effectively meld the “space age” aesthetic with the “comfy, cozy, I-am-a-luxury-a-traveler-at-an-Austrian-ski-resort” aesthetic. This jacket manages to do so. Maybe we can split it up this way? The padded ivory is the “Austrian ski resort” half of the aesthetic; whereas the black trim is the “I am a cool sexy chick from the future” aesthetic. The bag sits great on your shoulder and it's just so effortlessly cool. We've always wanted an Alexander Wang bag but couldn't carry one because the leather was so heavy.
